The following is a brief summary of our core beliefs:

BIBLE

We believe that the 66 books contained in the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired word of God, the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible, and God-breathed (2 Tim 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Matt 5:18; John 16:12, 13).

TRINITY

We believe there is only one God who exists eternally in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Deut 6:4, 2 Cor 13:14). We believe the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are co-eternal and co-equal, with each person having the same attributes and perfections (Deut 6:4; 2 Cor 13:14).

JESUS

We believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son, distinct from the Father and the Holy Spirit and yet shares in the divine being. He is the eternal God who took on human flesh; truly God and truly man (John 1:14). He lived a sinless life (1 Peter 2:21-22), died on a cross as a wrath-removing substitute for sinners, was buried, and physically rose from the grave to redeem humanity from sin (Acts 4:10, Phi 2:7-11, Luke 23:26-24: 53). We believe that Jesus will return to earth to judge all people and to rule and reign with His saints forever (Rev 22:12, 2 Tim 4:1).

HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is also God, distinct from the Father and the Son and yet shares in the divine being. He is the supernatural agent in salvation, baptizing all Christians into the universal church at conversion, indwelling and sealing them until the day of Christ’s return (John 16:8-11, 2 Cor 3:6, 1 Cor 12:12-14, Rom 8:9, Eph 5:18).

We believe God the Holy Spirit is sovereign in the bestowing of spiritual gifts to each believer (1 Cor 12, Eph 4:8). We also believe particular spiritual gifts are neither essential, nor prove the presence of the Holy Spirit, nor are an indication of deep spiritual experience (1 Cor 12:7-13, Eph 4:7–8). We believe it is the privilege and responsibility of every believer to minister according to the gift(s) and grace of God that is given to him/her (Rom 12:1–8, 1 Cor 13, 1 Peter 4:10–11).

HUMAN BEINGS

We believe God created all human beings in His image. He has created them uniquely female and male (Gen 1:26-27). Human beings chose to sin and rebel against God, so death and sin spread to all people (1 Cor 15:21). Human beings are born spiritually dead and in need of salvation (Eph 2:1).

JUSTIFICATION

We believe that in order to be justified (declared righteous before God), God Himself must do the work of justifying us (Rom 8:33). God declares people to be righteous when they turn from their sin and rebellion and place their faith solely in the perfect life, substitutionary death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38, Rom 2:4, Is 55:6-7). We are not declared righteous before God by our own merit or effort (Rom 3:20). We believe a great exchange took place: our sins were imputed to Christ and He was punished under God's wrath as though He committed our sins, though He was sinless (Col. 2:14, 1 Peter 2:24), and the perfect righteousness of Jesus is imputed to us, though we are not righteous in and of ourselves (1 Cor 1:30,2 Cor 5:21). God is both "just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus" (Rom 3:26).

THE CHURCH

We believe the church is a spiritual organism (Christ’s body) made up of all believers, everywhere, for all time (Eph 1:22-23, Eph 5:25-27, 1 Cor 12:12-14, 2 Cor 11:2). We believe the establishment of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament (Acts 14:27, Acts 18:22, 1 Tim 3:1-3, Titus 1:5-11).

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for His church: baptism and the Lord's Supper (communion). We believe baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. We believe communion is also for believers in Jesus and should be celebrated regularly in the local church, to proclaim Christ's death until He returns. The communion elements symbolize the body and blood of Jesus, who died in our place. By taking communion, believers receive spiritual nourishment for our souls and we signify our unity with our brothers and sisters in Christ. (Matthew 28:19, Luke 22:19-20, Acts 2:38, I Corinthians 11:23-26).

LAST THINGS

We believe that the Kingdom of God came in the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ, that it continues to expand by the ministry of the Holy Spirit through the Church, and that it will be consummated in the glorious, visible, and triumphant appearing of Christ when He returns to the earth as King. We believe that after Christ returns, He will bring about the ultimate defeat of Satan, the resurrection of the dead, the final judgement, and the eternal blessing of the righteous. At that time, the Kingdom of God will be completely fulfilled in the new heavens and the new earth, in which righteousness dwells and in which he will be worshipped forever (1 Cor 15:20-28, 1 Cor 15: 50-58; Phi 3:20-21, 1 Thess 4:13-5:11, 2 Thess 1:3-12, Rev 19:1-21).

We believe that when Christians die they pass immediately into the blessed presence of Christ, there to enjoy conscious fellowship with the Saviour until the day of the resurrection and glorious transformation of the body. The saved will then forever dwell in blissful fellowship with their great Triune God. We also believe that when unbelievers die they are consigned to hell, there to await the day of judgement when they shall be eternally separated from the presence of God (Matt 25:46, Luke 16:19-31, John 5:25-29, 1 Cor 15:35-58, 2 Cor 5:1-10, Phil 1:19-26, Phil 3:20-21, 2 Thess 1:5-10, Rev 20:11-15, Rev 21:1-22:15).
