Church Covenant

We are an assembly of committed disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ who have repented of our sins and placed our faith in the finished work of our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. By God’s grace, we make the following covenant with each other and our Triune God:

WE ARE FAMILY

-We commit to be a source of unity by speaking in a way that builds up other believers and to be a positive voice when speaking of the gospel ministry of CityLight Church (Ephesians 4:29).

-We commit to lovingly holding each other accountable to our covenant commitments (James 5:19-20).

-We commit to loving, serving, encouraging, and praying for each other (John 13:34-35; Galatians 5:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Ephesians 6:18).

-We commit to submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ, humbly recognizing there should be no attitude of superiority in the Body of Christ (Ephesians 5:21; 1 Corinthians 12:21-25).

-We commit to exercising our spiritual gifts for the building up of CityLight Church (1 Peter 4:10).

-We commit to joyfully submitting to the elders of CityLight Church as they submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the authority of the Bible (Hebrews 13:17; Titus 1:9).

WE ARE WORSHIPERS

-We commit to glorifying God by affirming and aligning our lives in accordance with biblical truth as articulated in the mission, values and statement of faith of CityLight Church (2 Timothy 1:14).

-We commit to faithfully attending the weekly Sunday worship gathering of CityLight Church (Hebrews 10:25).

-We commit to joyfully leveraging our time, talents and treasures for the glory of God (Ephesians 5:16; 1 Peter 4:10; 2 Corinthians 9:7).

-We commit to submitting our moral decisions to the Lordship of Christ and the authority of Scripture (Romans 12:2).

-We commit to uniting with another biblically faithful church as soon as possible if we move on from this local church (Hebrews 10:25).

WE ARE MISSIONARIES

-We commit to bringing the gospel message to those who don’t know Jesus (Romans 10:15; 2 Corinthians 5:20).

-We commit to demonstrating the gospel message with our lives (Titus 2:11-12; 1 Corinthians 2:4-5).

-We commit to participating in the missional and evangelistic efforts of CityLight Church through prayer and assisting in any way we can. We will also pray global missionaries who are bringing the gospel to the nations (Matthew 28:18-20).  

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all.  Amen.
